You may believe that after emptying the tank, you can do whatever you want without worrying about eradicating microbes. That is not the case, however. Even if the tank is free of sludge, the bacteria required to effectively process the waste remain. As a result, using bleach or another anti-bacterial agent may kill the beneficial bacteria in the tank that your system requires to function properly.
