A bombing occurs at the beginning of "The Night Agent." On a train, FBI Agent Peter Sutherland (played by the strikingly square-jawed Gabriel Basso) witnesses a person leaving a bag behind as they get off. Examining the suitcase, he finds a bomb and quickly applies the emergency stop, allowing passengers to leave the train before the explosion happens. Despite his valiant efforts, he is wrongfully accused of being involved in the bombing and is then forced to work in a desk job where he is responsible for keeping an eye on a phone that doesn't often ring. Assigned to the Night Action desk, Peter must spend hours every night in front of a phone before leaving to go home.
