The legendary story of a blues musician and the devil is reimagined by Ryan Coogler in Sinners. After years in Chicago's criminal underworld, twin brothers Smoke and Stack, played by Michael B. Jordan, return to the Mississippi Delta in this 1932 film. Using their earnings, the brothers want to open their own juke shop. Although his preacher father disapproves of the blues, believing it to be the music of the devil, they enlist a teenage guitarist named Sammie. Annie, Smoke's estranged wife, cooks the meals, and pianist Delta Slim plays the keyboard for Sammie. On opening night, Stack's biracial ex-lover Mary is one of the attendees.
