When the movie begins, Shelly is already considering her next phase, confronting what appear to be bleak prospects. Throughout the film, she works diligently to forge a new path while also striving to reconcile with her adult daughter, Hannah, an aspiring photographer who resents her. This mother-daughter storyline is among several that the filmmakers explore, yet it is the least engaging of them all. Hannah's character is a source of frustration, and her nagging demeanor is tiresome; however, Shelly's love for her allows for some tolerance. The most valuable aspect of Hannah is the illumination she provides regarding Shelly's character.
